Fun-Day Sunday - S'mores

Sunday is our fun day and this week we made S'mores.

This is an easy activity to do indoors and doesn't take a lot of items or a roaring fire.

You can find cheap S'more kits at many stores, or you can get the ingredients separately.

You need graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate.

We talked about what we were going to "eat".

We also talked about "more" and the word s'more.  The kids thought that it was a funny name.

They also thought that they would be "good".  Although, they think anything with chocolate is good.

We placed graham crackers on the plate and then put chocolate on top.

We placed one marshmallow on top of the chocolate.

Then another graham cracker on top of that.

Then we put the whole thing in the microwave for about 10 seconds (or until the marshmallow starts to puff).

At that point the marshmallow could be squished down.

Now it's ready to eat.  And they were "good".

Kids of all ages love food activities, don't they? I don't cook with my class too often, but when we do it's always a HUGE hit. And they are very happy to write about it afterwards!
