Cat's Colors

I have finally finished the communication boards for the last book in my pet unit.  This one was so fun to do because it was all about colours.  The other week I posted some questions about teaching children with little or no verbal skills how to read.  One of the things I'm concentrating on this year is comprehension.  Children with little or no verbal skills often don't have the same opportunities to participate in shared reading experiences at a young age because they don't have the vocabulary available to them.  This unit concentrates on comprehension, answering questions and making simple sentences.

I've posted the units about "What Pet to Get?" and "One More Pet". You can find the posts by clicking on their book covers.

The last book I've done activities for is "Cat's Colors" by Jane Cabrera.

I have once again made communication boards for the activities.  At the beginning of the year most of my children don't have their own communication systems in place.  If they do, they are very basic.  When we start talking about different books, they often don't have the pictures they need to answer my questions.

Here is what I have for this book.

To celebrate the fact that I've finally finished up these three units, they will all be on sale for 1/2 price until the end of the month. Click on the pictures below to head to your favourite store.
